Making Diseases Stay Away From The Country

Every government is responsible for the health of its citizens. This is why there are many programs conducted by all governments to prevent diseases from spreading. One of the ways in which governments keep diseases away is by screening people from other countries who arrive here for various purposes. Singapore gives a lot of importance in screening foreigners who come here for work. As these people will be interacting with various local people, they must be tested for any contagious diseases. Some diseases have been eradicated from Singapore and the government doesn't wish them to return. There are also other diseases like HIV which are likely to spread very fast. In the present circumstances, such tests are assuming huge importance as the virus seems to be spreading from nation to nation.

Testing Families That Come To Live In Singapore

The Singapore government knows the importance of people living with their families. That is why the government allows families to come and live with foreigners who are working in the country. Some passes allow the close family to stay with the foreigner in Singapore as long as he or she has a work permit. The ministry of manpower also issues other passes to other relatives who want to visit and stay with the foreigners here. The long-term visit pass helps the foreign workers' parents, common-law spouses, and stepchildren to come and live here. This pass will be approved only after the LTVP medical check-up is completed and the persons found to be not carrying any dangerous disease with them.
The check-up can be conducted at the prescribed clinics in Singapore. Before the LTVP medical check-up clinic conducts the tests, they will require you to fill out a registration form. You must carry your in-approval permit along with the passport. These have to be submitted at the registration counter where the payment for the tests will be accepted. Once the registration is complete the person will be sent for tests. The tests will be conducted as per the procedures prescribed by the MOM for the LTVP. These clinics will conduct the tests in the manner in which it has been mandated by the authorities.

Ensure That Your Employees Are Healthy

It is the company’s responsibility to make sure that foreign workers are healthy and will pass the tests conducted as per the work permit medical check-up requirements. The ministry of manpower will issue the work permits only if the applicant is found to be healthy as per the government guidelines. The tests will be conducted at clinics that have the facility to conduct them as per the norms of the authorities. When the work permit is approved in principle the employers must send these foreigners for completing the medical check-up. They should complete the tests and submit the results if the work permit must be issued.
Female foreign employees must undergo the tests in a work permit medical check-up clinic once in six months. Tests will be conducted to see if the worker is pregnant. The other tests will be conducted to see if she suffers from HIV, syphilis, or tuberculosis. The employer must take responsibility for conducting the test every six months. The payment for the test is also done by the employer. The tests must be conducted by a doctor registered in Singapore. The employer will receive the notification from the ministry when the tests are due. The forms for the tests will also be sent.
